58th FEIBP Congress 2016 in Edinburgh/Scotland
from September 7-9

FEIBP 2016 BannerThe European Brush Association FEIBP met from 7-9 September, 2016 in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh at the Radisson Blue hotel. The congress was very well organised by Philip Coward and his wife Pamela (The Hill Brush Company, UK). About 125 delegates and partners as well as some first participants from many European countries took part. Also guests from Tunisia and the USA had followed the invitation. The event offered numerous opportunities for intensive professional discussions and exchange of ideas.

The working groups technical brushes, professional hygiene brushes and brush manufacturers met in separate meetings for the conversation. Traditionally, FEIBP members reported on the current market situation for raw materials: bristles, vegetable fibers, fine hair, plastic fibers and steel.

The Brush forum in a new look: For 3 hours in the morning of the second congress day, around 20 brush makers and suppliers met. It was a relaxed atmosphere, ideas were discussed, experiences exchanged, contacts made or refreshed, as well as business connections.

Guest speaker Alan Ryan talked about crime and security on the Internet. He explained what measures companies can take to improve Internet security. Today, the Internet has become an indispensable part of everyday business. Not only large companies, but also many small and medium-sized companies are processing a growing part of their business online. Every day enormous money sums are moved. It is therefore not surprising that the issue of Internet security is becoming increasingly important.

The presentation of the 9th FEIBP Innovation Award was another highlight of the congress. The Boucherie-Borghi Group took first place with their PTt technology, for anchorless brushes. Currently, this method is available for toothbrush manufacture.

FEIBP Treasurer, Dr. Andrea Acquaderni, published the FEIBP Financial Report for 2016 and a preview of 2017.

Parallel to the congress there were varied excursions organized for the partners, including an extensive city tour through Edinburgh, visit of the Edinburgh Castle and the Britannia Royal Yacht. This year's congress was supplemented by team-building games with an outdoor event, the Highland Games. These provided great fun and good entertainment. The Team MacBeth, with leader Reinhold Hörz, emerged as a proud winner.

The Galadinner at the The Hub provided the opportunity for a cozy gathering with excellent musical and culinary entertainment and formed the crowning conclusion of the 58th FEIBP Congress.

FEIBP President Thorsten W. Stollberg presented a brief preview of the 59th FEIBP Congress, which will be held from the 6-8 September 2017 in Leipzig/Germany.

Brush Scene® will report in detail with numerous colour pictures on the 58th FEIBP congress in Edinburgh/Scotland in its end-of-year issue (November/December), which will be available by subscription on 15th December 2016.
